Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden has signed-up to a campaign in Parliament calling for better recognition of Fairtrade products and supporting Fairtrade Fortnight.
Mr Marsden said: “Fairtrade has established itself as a way for developing countries to trade their way out of poverty. Great work has been done in Blackpool by Joy Bosworth
and the Blackpool Action Force to highlight the Fairtrade and its benefits to developing countries.”
“Fairtrade Fortnight also helps educate young people on fair trade and development issues and I am encouraging all schools in Blackpool to take part in
the new Fairtrade Schools Scheme. I know that schools in Blackpool will want to do things around this – such as Beacon Hill High School’s imaginative fashion show.”
