GORDON SUPPORTS BREAST CANCER CAMPAIGN IN BLACKPOOL
Blackpool South’s MP Gordon Marsden visited ASDA in Blackpool to support the Wear it Pink campaign and the Government’s initiative to raise breast cancer
awareness.
Gordon Marsden says “over 44,000 women in the UK will be diagnosed with
breast cancer this year. The Wear it Pink campaign I am supporting has raised over £6.6
million since its launch towards researching the cure to breast cancer.”
“I know from listening to my constituents that many people in Blackpool suffer from the effects breast cancer. I’m delighted that Gordon Brown has just
announced free breast cancer screenings for all women aged 43 to 73. This will help focus the efforts of the Blackpool NHS Trust to ensure that
women in Blackpool have even speedier diagnosis options in Blackpool through the breast cancer clinics.”
Mr. Marsden added “Funding for breast cancer research is crucial in the road towards a cure. With so many women being affected by this
disease, countrywide participation is vital to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and I am proud to be a part of this valuable campaign.”
Wear it Pink occurs on Friday 26 October this year. The Breast Cancer Campaign asks everyone in the UK to wear an item of pink and donate £2 each so the
society can continue its researching the cure to breast cancer.
