Gordon has been at the heart of Blackpool issues and campaigns for over 17 years – ever since being selected as Parliamentary candidate and has an
office and home in South Shore.
He was born and brought up in the North West and educated at Stockport Grammar School and Oxford University and won a Kennedy Scholarship to Harvard. He was the Editor of
History Today magazine, which he ran as a small business for 12 years, and an Open University tutor.
Gordon is President of the British Resorts and Destinations Association and chair of a Parliamentary Seaside Towns Group. He’s campaigned ceaselessly in Parliament to
highlight the particular needs and priorities of Blackpool and other seaside towns.
Gordon is a Member of Parliament’s Education and Skills Select Committee- helping develop policy on citizenship and young people, skills, further education, and special
educational needs.
He is also Chair of the All Party-Parliamentary Skills Group and he is passionate that tackling the adult skills gap and re-skilling older workers which
is key to the regeneration of Blackpool.
